Wonder Camp is an arts and nature education program based on Orcas Island in San Juan County, north of Seattle in the Salish Sea.
The Camp's mission is to connect learners of all ages with creative makers, performers and wisdom carriers, and to encourage intersections of the arts, humanities and sciences in meaningful ways that strengthen respect and appreciation for the natural world.
Our primary sponsor is the San Juan Islands Makers Guild, a community program supporting creative island makers and environmental champions, founded in 2019 on Orcas Island. SJIMG is a sponsored program of Heritage Ranch, Inc. a 501c3 charitable educational organization founded in 2004.
We respectfully acknowledge that the Orcas Wonder Camp operates on the unceded, ancestral territories of the Coast Salish Peoples.
We are continually learning what it means to live on unceded lands and we encourage non-Indigenous peoples living and working on unceded territories to reflect on this as well.
Since time immemorial, Indigenous peoples have lived on their traditional territories on the Pacific Northwest Coast including the shores and rivers of the Salish Sea.
Indigenous communities of the Salish Sea continue to steward and protect the unique Salish Sea ecosystem including the lands, the ocean, and its watersheds.
